Photo of the Day Monday 11th June
Back down under for today’s photo, and back home to New Zealand. The photo is taken from the main road between the city of Christchurch on the east coast, and Greymouth on the West Coast. The photo is taken at Porters Pass, the first major climb after crossing the Canterbury Plains. The road is one of the few that cuts through the Southern Alps, and already, the first snows of winter have come. For the next hour of driving, the scenery is fantastic, as the road goes through the Southern Alps and crosses Arthur’s Pass. As the road goes up to almost 1000m, then snow chains have to be carried in winter, although the western side of the mountains is usually warmer. Clear late-autumn light and the new snow made this photo a bit more special.
Happy not to be working at the Quality Spa Resort, Norefjell, and not missing the managers there at all.
