Photo of the Day Thursday 14th February 2013 – Not the Quality Spa Resort Hotel, Norefjell.
Thought for the day….” Laughter is the best medicine, but if you laugh for no reason, then you need medicine”
“Happiness is no laughing matter”.
Off to the South Pacific for the photo today and to the Yasawa Islands west of Fiji. Lovely islands, great for island hopping, boating and swimming, and very easy to reach from Nadi, the main international airport. Lots of coral around the islands, as you can see in the photo. Coral is actually an animal that surrounds itself with a wall of calcium carbonate. Although corals can catch small fish and plankton using their stinging tentacles, they get most of their food from photosynthetic algae that live within them. The rise in the temperature of the oceans is a major threat to corals, a water temperature change of 2 degrees can kill corals. In the trees behind the beach, you can see a traditional Fijian village.
