Photo of the Day Sunday 26th May 2013 – Not the Quality Spa Resort Hotel, Norefjell.
Thought for the day..” Tomorrow’s success depends on today’s effort”. ” Patience is something that you admire in the driver behind you, but not in the one in front of you” ” The best way to destroy an enemy is to make them a friend”
Nice story in the news about the 80 year old Japanese man who has just completed his THIRD summit of Mt. Everest (8848m). As if this was not enough, he is already planning his NEXT summit attempt. The name Everest came from George Everest, who was the Surveyor General in India in the 19th Century. Mt. Everest is still growing, by between 3 and 6mm a year, and is also moving by about 5 cm a year. The temperature at the summit can fall to -60 degrees C. It was first summited by New Zealander Edmund Hillary, although the biggest ever climbing group was a group of 410 Chinese in 1975. The most people to summit on the same day was 40 on 10th May 1993. Over 150 bodies of dead climbers are on the peak.
Another portrait photo today, and one from the archives, taken a long time ago although it still looks fresh. Shows an African girl in a bus station market.
