Staying in Central America again for the photo, and Guatemala. This time it is the Lake Aititlan area, which is a scenic area of volcanoes and lakes in the Guatemalan highlands. The Maya people live in the villages around the lake, many of whom still wear the traditional costume, as in the photo. Water taxis are the main form of transport around the lake, although there are the small paths as well (there is no road around the lake). Lucky to have the camera ready whilst walking on one of the higher paths around the lake for this photo.
Happy not to be working at the Quality Spa Resort Hotel, Norefjell, and not missing the managers there at all.
Thought for the day…” Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen. ” (Winston Churchill).
So the new cycle has been sent back to Germany by the idiots at DB Schenker, who refused to deliver it the last few kilometres in Sweden, and who have now transported it all the way back to Germany. Off to court next week to get the matter into court, hopefully then DB Schenker/GLS will reply to emails and to court papers.
Staying in Central America for the photo today, but in Guatemala this time. Nice photo of the famous ‘chicken buses lined up in Antigua, Guatemala. They get their name because often chickens and other live animals are also transported on them, not only on the roof but also inside the buses. The buses also drive at high speed, and it is not uncommon to see a crashed bus by the side of the road. Antigua is surrounded by volcanoes and coffee plantations and is now a popular tourist destination. Also popular in this area are the chocolate shops, as Antigua produces some very good chocolate and cocoa.
