Photo of the Day Sunday 9th June 2013 – Not the Quality Spa Resort Hotel, Norefjell.

Thought for the day….”  ‘Opportunity only knocks once’   is one of the greatest lies of all time.   Opportunity is a constant drumming that, like any sound repeated too often, becomes only a noise we tend to ignore”

“A smile will be complete when it begins in your heart, reflects in your eyes, and ends with a glow in your face”

It is not easy to say how many countries there are in the world, but the number seems to be around 206 soverign states.    Counting is made more difficult because some countries do not recognize others, and also some ‘new’ countries have yet to be recognized (like Kosov0).   Countries such as Palestine, Taiwan, Greenland and Cyprus all have disputed or part separate status.    The UN has 193 member states and also 2 observer states, as well as 11 other states, so the true number of countries in the world is not easy to determine.

A scene from a local market in Myanmar today, and a portrait of one of the market sellers.  Until 1989 it was known as Burma, and has around 135 different ethnic tribes.  It was one of these tribes, Myanma, which gave the country its current name.   The currency there is called the Kyat.  In 2006 the capital was moved from Rangoon to Nay Pyi Taw.

Still happy that I am not working at the Quality Spa Resort Hotel in Norefjell.   I do not miss the managers there at all.
