Photo of the Day Sunday 16th June 2013 – Not the Quality Spa Resort Hotel, Norefjell.

Thought for the day….” Sometimes life is like a shopping trolley, it does not go the way that you want it to.”

” You do not stop laughing because you grow old.   You grow old because you stop laughing.”

Following on from the stories about the shortage of toilet paper in Venezuela, of course, somebody has now developed a mobile phone app to show the location of toilet paper supplies.   The free app lets Venezuelans know where toilet paper, cooking oil, flour and other other supplies that are in short supply can be found.   The app uses Google maps to show the locations.    It is said that the most popular use of this app is to locate toilet paper.  In another mobile phone story in the news, the RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (Britain), has criticized mobile phone apps that imitate birdsong, as these can be harmful to birds.  People have also been using some mobile phone apps which imitate birdsong to entice birds out so that they can be photographed.

A photo from the archives today, although it still looks fresh.   Nice shot of a street sweetcorn seller in Swaziland, Africa.

Photo of the day Thursday 20th December 2012 – Not the Quality Spa Resort Hotel, Norefjell.

Thought for the day….” You cannot make your candle glow brighter by blowing out the other guys’.”

Not many days now until Christmas, but this year, it does not seem as crazy as normal.  Did you know that Four is the only number that has the same amount of letters as its actual value.

And did you know that a Rubik’s cube has 43,252,003, 274,489,856,000 possible combinations.  Or that it cost 7 million dollars to build the Titanic but 200 milion dollars to make a film about it.

A colourful photo from Nicaragua today, and a toffee apple seller in one of the rural towns.  Nicaragua has a population of about 6 million with 1/4 of them living in the capital Managua.  Much of the country is volcanic, and earthquakes are common.  Agriculture is the main export, but poverty is a major problem in the country.  It always pays to keep the camera ready for photos like this one.

Happy not to be working at the Quality Spa Resort Hotel, Norefjell.
