Ebay email address – where is it?

Thought for the day…” Good judgement comes from experience.  Experience comes from bad judgement”.

“Success with negative attitude is called luck.  Success with positive attitude is called achievement”.

Have you ever tried to contact Customer ‘service’ at Ebay?   If so, then you will be as frustrated as I am.  Ebay makes it VERY difficult to contact them.    Yes, there is a ‘help & contact’ section, but this will merely lead you to suggested answers.   But try and find an email address for Ebay and you will get very annoyed.  They have made it deliberately difficult for you to contact them.    I merely wanted to contact Ebay to ask about a refund, but they do not publish an email address.  How crazy is that??   What reputable company does not want you to contact them???     Either way it has taught me a lesson.   If they are not prepared to publish and email address or put an online form for you to use, then they do not deserve trade.   It seems to be a trend with many companies now, making it very difficult or impossible for you to contact them by email.  They are happy enough to take your money, and make it very easy to pay, but when you want to contact them, that is a different matter.    Good customer service can actually be profitable for a company, whereas bad customer service actually drives customers away.     So why does Ebay make it so difficult to contact them by email???

One advantage of autumn is that it is a good time to go through the photo collection.  Here is one photo that I have converted to black & white….shadows from the railings on a bridge.

In the streets, in black & white.

Thought for the day….”The finest steel has to go through the hottest fire”.

“Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines”.

It is pleasant to read a good news story from New Zealand.    The newspapers there are reporting on yet another helicopter crash (there are a lot of crashes in NZ) near Queenstown on the South Island.   The helicopter, with 6 people onboard, crashed on landing.   The passengers escaped with minor injuries, but Australian Mitchell Green proposed to his girlfriend immediately after exiting the wreckage.   The happy ending is that she accepted.   Not your usual marriage proposal !!!  Wonder what they will do for the wedding ceremony……

Great fun to go back through the photo collection and edit old photos….here are a couple of photos, originally taken in colour, converted to black & white.    Good lighting and being in the right place at the right time helped to make these photos.

Black & White or colour….which is best ?????

Thought for the day…” Broken pencils are pointless”       “Jokes about German sausages are the wurst”

Lots of fun to go back through the photo collections and re-edit the photos….and also get rid of a lot of earlier attempts.   Two versions of the same photo today, from the Spanish island of Menorca.  All photos from the Fuji X series….with the standard 18-55mm kit lens.    See which you like the best.  Same photo but one is converted to B & W.     My vote goes to the black & white version….

The streets of Oslo – not what you are expecting.

Thought for the day…” A smile is a curve that sets everything straight. ”

” Success is simple.  Do what is right, the right way, at the right time”.

One of the surprises that visitors to the Norwegian capital, Oslo  often comment on are the large numbers of beggars on the streets.   All around the city they are a common sight, including in the city’s parks where they often set up camp.    During the summer it is not uncommon to see them cooking in parks and open spaces, sometimes using  the trees and bushes for firewood.    Back in September 2014, the council in Oslo voted AGAINST a ban on begging in the city, another sign of the weakness of Norwegians to deal with the problem.   A newer proposal to ban begging nationwide in Norway was dropped as it was seen as discriminating against Roma (gypsy) people.      The fact that pick-pocketing and crime have increased in the areas where there are many beggars can hardly be a coincidence.    Complaints about litter and the bad sanitation have also increased in the areas where the gypsies are camping, including in the city centre.     Yet the Norwegian government has apparently done little to resolve the problem.  Same thing with the drug dealers and drug addicts who also frequent the city centre.    If you drive you car 10km over the speed limit in Norway then you are a major criminal, but apparently a drug dealer or beggar can get away with their crimes.     Not the sort of Norway that tourists were expecting before their arrival.

On the Street, Korea – Not the Quality Spa Resort Hotel, Norefjell.

Thought for the day…” Do not ask what the meaning of life is, You define it”.

“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest”.

Street sellers in Gjeongju, Korea for the photo today.   Great light for this photo, with bright, even light and no hard shadows.   Just right to capture the colours of the scene.  And this photo was taken with a cheap, 12mp camera too, not an expensive DSLR.   In Korea, then number ‘4’ is very unlucky, so most buildings do not have a 4th floor.    Writing a letter in red ink is also bad form in Korea, as it either means that the recipient will die, or else will have bad luck.     Oddly enough, the official residence of the president of Korea is known as the Blue House.

Photo of the Day Sunday 23rd June 2013 – Not the Quality Spa Resort Hotel, Norefjell.

Thought for the day..”  On the keyboard of life, always keep one finger on the escape key”.

” Needing someone is like needing a parachute.  If they are not there the first time, chances are you will not be needing them again”.

With all the publicity at the moment for the 787 and the Paris Air show, there are some interesting facts about the world’s longest flights.  On 9th November 2005, a  Boeing 777 -200LR flew from Hong Kong to London  eastwards, covering 21 602km in 22 hours 22 minutes.  The aircraft carried 8 pilots for this flight.   But the overall record flight is surprisingly still held by a propellor driven aircraft, the Lockheed Starliner.   The TWA flight from London to San Fransisco via the Polar route on 1 October 1957 flew for 23 hours 19 minutes non-stop.  Between 1943 and 1945, Qantas operated a Catalina flying boat between Western Australia and Sri Lanka, with a flight time of between 28 hours and 33 hours, called the Double Sunrise service.   Until November this year, the Singapore Airlines flight from Newark to Singapore (15 345 km) holds the current record for the longest flight, with a flight time of 18 hours 45 minutes.

Following on from all the publicity about how much the USA is spying on citizens via the internet (PRISM),  I was reading an interesting article on the infowars.com  website (always something interesting on this site).    A family has taken a photo of the spy cameras now installed at the entrance to one South Texas beach, which record cars entering and leaving the beach.    When you look at this photo, then you have to think that 1984 is well and truly here.   Have a look at this picture, which is on the http://www.infowars.com  website:

Something a little unusual for the photo today, and some tables and chairs outside a cafe in Stockholm, Sweden.   They were catching the midsummer sunlight rather well, so the colours really shone out.

Off to Switzerland for the photo today, and to the Old Town in Zurich.  Switzerland has a population of around 8 million people, with about 63% of them speaking Swiss-German.  Around 20% speak French and around 6% speak Italian.   Apparently, there are more banks than dentists in Switzerland, and also more Starbucks coffee shops than banks.  Zurich is also home to Europe’s largest clock face.   According to Bilanz business magazine, the richest man in Switzerland is Ingvar Kamprad, the Swedish founder of IKEA.  The city of Zurich also has over 1200 fountains, with around 1.9 million people living in the Zurich metropolitan area.

“The only real mistake is the one that we learn nothing from”.

Melbourne, Australia and St. Petersburg, Russia have the largest tram systems in the world, but the photo today shows a preserved tram in the southern Swedish city of Malmo.  Interesting to read that at one time, Milan had hearse trams which were used for funerals up until 1920.  Also, at one time, Melbourne had a dog car tram, which was used to transport dogs to the showgrounds.  As well as the usual restaurant trams, they have also been used as a mobile library ((Munchen, Germany) until 1970, and also as cargo trams.  Amsterdam has again experimented with using trams for moving goods inside the city.  And a few cities still use double-decker trams, such as Hong Kong.

Did you see in the news that the French government has now overturned a ban that stopped women from wearing trousers in Paris?   Apparently, it had been illegal for 200 years (from 17th November 1800), and was originally to stop women from doing certain jobs.

Nice portrait photo here today, although not a very high-tech. cycle !!
