A hat shop in the centre of Copenhagen, Denmark is the photo today, and judging by the prices, not a cheap shop either. Apparently, the word milliner came from Milan, which was a centre for straw hats at one time. And Panama hats originally came from Ecuador, not Panama. Danes often come tops in surveys of the world’s happiest people, which is surprising given the high taxes there.
Happy not to be working at the Quality Spa Resort in Norefjell.

Did you know that the world’s largest shopping centre (based on total area) is in Dubai (not surprisingly called ‘The Dubai Mall) with 1200 shops. In 2011 it had over 54 million visitors. (As a comparison, Niagrara Falls receives an estimated 22.5 million visitors a year.) It includes a 250 room luxury hotel, 22 cinema screens and also parking for 14 000 cars. It also contains the world’s largest sweet shop (Candylicious).
A winter’s day in Stockholm, Sweden for the photo today with ice forming on the Baltic Sea. From here, boats ferry passengers to the islands outside of Stockholm, although things are very quiet at this time of year., Temperatures in Sweden at this time can fall to below -30, although Stockholm was around -5 degrees when the photo was taken.

I just read on MSN news about a good, fun job, a water slide tester. “An employment opportunity as a resort chain’s waterslide tester has fired up the interwebs. First Choice has a Facebook page dedicated to the available role of “Slide Tester” that will see the chosen one test water parks for a living for six months as they visit SplashWorld resorts across Europe and North Africa. This is one job application where describing yourself as “fun-loving” is actually relevant. Five shortlisted applicants will compete in a final challenge at a SplashWorld resort for the gig, which certainly beats the usual final job interview hell. [Source] ”
Not a bad job there.!!!!
The streets of Tbilisi, Georgia for the photo today, a dreary scene from the streets below the parliament. Not much colour and not much life, but a city scene.
Happy not to be working at the Quality Spa Resort, Norefjell.

Not many days now until Christmas, but this year, it does not seem as crazy as normal. Did you know that Four is the only number that has the same amount of letters as its actual value.
And did you know that a Rubik’s cube has 43,252,003, 274,489,856,000 possible combinations. Or that it cost 7 million dollars to build the Titanic but 200 milion dollars to make a film about it.
A colourful photo from Nicaragua today, and a toffee apple seller in one of the rural towns. Nicaragua has a population of about 6 million with 1/4 of them living in the capital Managua. Much of the country is volcanic, and earthquakes are common. Agriculture is the main export, but poverty is a major problem in the country. It always pays to keep the camera ready for photos like this one.

I am still battling with DBSchenker/GLS to have my new cycle delivered. Some of the people working there should really not be working in anything that involves dealing with customers. The way that things are going, then it is going to end up in court. Not hard I would have thought to deliver a cycle to correct address, but apparently it is. So DB Schenker are now on the off list too.
Hong Kong for the photo today and a shot of the streets by night. 7 million people live in this small area, making it one of the most densely populated areas in the world. Surprisingly, it has the second longest life expectancy in the world. Probably it is at its most crowded during Golden Week, the first week in October, when the city is really packed. A good stopover though.
