If you are feeling hungry…fast food….

Thought for the day….”You cannot live a positive life with a negative mind”

“Success is a ladder that you cannot climb with your hands in your pockets”

If you are feeling overfed after the Christmas indulgence, then spare a thought for Nela Zisser (New Zealand).  This woman has undertaken the challenge of eating to excess and is posting on YouTube.  Her latest attempt failed.   She was attempting to eat 100 MacDonald burgers in a row.  Not surprisingly, the attempt fails, and she ‘only’ managed to eat 45 burgers.  Apparently, after eating 45 of them, she said that the taste got to her.     The record is held by a Japanese, Yuka Kinoshita, who managed to eat 62 burgers at one sitting.   Also in the news this week is that the world’s heaviest man, Andres Sepulveda (Mexico) had died at the age of 38.  His weight had been as high as 450kg.  What will your New Year’s Resolution be????

Thought for the day….” Life is not measure by the number of breaths we take, but by the moment that take our breath away”

“Failures are stepping stones to success”

Amazing to realize that plants have the ability to count, and also have a memory.   David Attenborough showed in his series ‘The Secret Life Of Plants’  that the Venus Fly Trap plant (a carnivorous plant) actually had the ability to count and some form of memory.    This week I read of more studies which have shown that plants have the ability to do mathematics as well, as scientists have shown that plants have been working out how much starch to consume overnight (when there is no sunlight available) so as not to use up all their reserves too fast.  Scientists say that this shows that plants have the ability to perform simple mathematics.  There is even a laboratory in Italy investigating plant intelligence, LINV near Florence (International Laboratory of Plant Neurobiology).  One of their studies was into the effects of music in vineyards.

Another Moroccan photo today, but this time a portrait of a woman in a market in the seaside town of Essouraira.  Arabs and Berbers make up most of the population in Morocco.   Surprisingly, the lowest point in Morocco (Sebkha Tah) is -55m  and the highest (Jbel Toubkal) 4165m.  Around 45% of the population work in agriculture.

Photo of the Day Saturday 2nd March 2013 – Not the Quality Spa Resort Hotel, Norefjell.

Thought for the day….”  Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional”

“If the only tool that you have is a hammer then you tend to see every problem as a nail”.

Did you know that the population of the world grows by over 80 million people every year, and that the total world population is now over 7  BILLION people?   At the current rates, there will be an additional billion people every 13 years.  China tops the list with 1.3 billion people, India is number two with 1.1 billion people.   The world’s smallest independent nation is Nauru with just over 13 000 people.  And the photo today is of just one of those 7 billion people.

Photo of the Day Tuesday 12th February 2013-Not the Quality Spa Resort Hotel, Norefjell.

Thought for the day…”This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.    There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure Somebody would do it.  Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.  Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody‘s job.  Everybody though Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody would not do it.

It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.”
