Photo of the Day Tuesday 25th December 2012 – Not the Quality Spa Resort Hotel, Norefjell.

Thought for the day….” Facebook is the only place where it is acceptable to talk to a wall “.

Did you know that….A person at rest generates as much heat as a 100watt lightbulb or that….A kangaroo can’t jump unless its tail is touching the ground.   Also, a Crocodiles tongue is attached to the roof of its mouth.  A rhinoceros’ horn is made of compacted hair.  A snail can have about 25,000 teeth.  Canada is an Indian word meaning Big Village.  The longest one-syllable word in the English language is “screeched.”  No word in the English language rhymes with month, orange, silver, or purple.

A photo of part of the presential residence in Helsinki, Finland.  Taken in autumn sunshine, with a clear blue sky.   And yesterday, I found some other good travel photos on the site as well, so if you have time then have a look here too…

Thought for the day…”  Remember, when money talks it drowns out all other voices.”

Staying in Scandinavia for the photo, but to the Finnish capital of Helsinki.    Helsinki has some interesting architecture, including some Russian style buildings (indeed parts of the city have been used as a stand-in for film scenes set in Russia).  There are said to be 187 888 lakes in Finland and also 179, 584 islands.  Also unusual is that YLE, the Finnish broadcasting company, sends news in the Latin language.  Finland is the least sparsely populated country in the European Union, with only 16 inhabitants per square kilometre.
